SCOPE
This “Method Statement” specifies the
detailed requirements and procedures for Installation of SUBMERSIBLE PUMPS
for Project: ###### - Ports View
Mixed Use Development, Plot No-#####, Dubai - UAE.
Application: Submersible Sump pump shall
be duplex arranged suitable for pumping sanitary waste and sewage from the
basement-02 to external manhole through pressure breaking manhole.

5.
SUPERVISION
5.1. Project Manager (MEP)
To be the focal point for interfaces and
other communications with the Company & Main contractor as required during
execution of work. He shall ensure that adequate quality measures are being
undertaken. He should also ensure that the proper tools and tackles are
available for the timely completion of the job in a quality manner.
5.2. QA/QC Engineer
5.2.1. Shall ensure
all inspections are conducted as per the contract specifications, PQP &
ITPs. To ensure all inspections, proper tools & tackles and suitable
manpower are used at all stages of work. To ensure all latest issues of
procedures, Approved Material, shop drawings and standards are available at the
point of use. He shall also ensure the works complies with the project /
contract requirements, approved shop drawings and materials submittal. He shall
be responsible for the total quality of installation works being carried in
this project.
5.2.2. QA/QC Engineer to ensure that
the relevant approved method statement has been discussed and understand by all
technical work force, foreman & supervisors at site.
5.2.3. Inspect and ensure that there will be
no any damage during handling, storage and shipment of materials.
5.2.4.
Monitor and control the quality of work & ensure that fulfillment of
specified requirement has been done accordingly
5.2.5.
Maintain Comprehensive inspection, test reports and all quality records for any
further documentation.
5.3. Project Engineer
Reviews the Method Statement before starting
the work, explains the same to the subordinates and prepares program for the
daily job. Aware of all code of practices, Standards & Specifications and
HSE plan and to appreciate the workforce to perform a time bound and quality
job. PEP should ensure that safety measures have taken to avoid any unexpected
events. Ensure the approved controlled documents are used for execution of
works at site. He should ensure that any minor deviation approved by Engineer
from the approved shop drawing shall be reflected on the as build drawings and
signed by the contractor and consultant and maintain the record of Red line
marked drawing for preparation of as built drawing.
5.4.
Plumbing Supervisor
Ensure all safety equipment’s, proper tools
& tackles are available at the point of use. Aware of all procedures, work
method/instructions, quality requirement for the timely completion of the job
and explains to the task force for execution of the job. Executes all activities
as per the contract requirements, applicable code of practice and approved shop
drawings. Ensure the approved controlled documents are used for execution of
works at site.
6.
SAFETY ARRANGEMENTS
·
Tool box talk has to be conducted and all the hazards have to be
identified before starting the work.
·
Personnel Protective Equipment’s (PPE) to be worn by the task force
during execution at site.
·
Clear the obstructions from the surrounding area to avoid Near misses
and accidents.
·
Warning signs and barricades will be provided wherever is required.
·
Manufacturer’s recommendation has to be followed on health and safety
while during installation.
·
Any process adopted and may have a particular safety risk will be
assessed and addressed as required.

TRAINING
·
Tool box talk shall be conducted before starting of the work.
·
Hazard identification and risk assessment sheet shall be explained to
all workers before starting of each activity by PS.
·
First Aid Training shall be conducted by HSE Department to a specific
team to attend emergency cases.
·
Tradesman performing the described work will be plumbing technicians/plumbers.
If deemed necessary specific team/individuals will undergo further training and
awareness programme for this activity by production/Quality Assurance
Department.
10. HOUSEKEEPING
All work place where service personal are
working will be cleared of all scrap material, ensuring clean and healthy work
environment as well as to maintain free access and egress in the event of
emergency.
11. ACCESS / EGRESS
Egress shall be maintained
during all stages of work for the site team for evacuating the site
in any emergency cases.
12. COMMUNICATION
·
This method statement and related risk assessment shall be communicated
to the team which will perform the job.
·
Any changes at site due to actual site condition must be discussed with
project engineer and will communicate to consultant for advice and approval
prior to implementation of work.
·
Plumbing Supervisor/Foremen will communicate from work area to site
office via mobile phone.
13. WELFARE FACILITIES
·
Use site welfare facilities.
·
In summer season ORS shall be provided to workers as required
·
Mid-day break shall be provided as per Dubai municipality during Peak
summer
14. MATERIALS
·
Submersible
Pumps, their accessories & supporting system to be as per approved material
submittal.
15. DESCRIPTION OF WORKS
15.1. Storage and
Handling
·
All items will be off loaded by forklift in site
store on timber sleepers and covered for protection as per manufacturer
recommendation.
·
The pumps are factory packed for shipping and will
be remain so until installation.
·
All documents will be available with the supplied
pumps i.e. shipping documents, packaging list, delivery notes etc.
·
Inspection will be carried out to all supplied items
for any damage and compliance for project specification / approved material
submittal and witnessed by consultant for approval.
15.2. Pre
Installation Procedures
·
Ensure Pump and all approved materials are at site
to carry out the work.
·
Physical verification of Pump and all materials will
be carried out for any damages prior to take from store.
·
Prior to commencement of work, areas and access will
be inspected to confirm that site is ready to commence the work.
·
All relevant documentation (shop drawing) and
material applicable to particular section of works will be checked by site
supervisor prior to commencement of work.
·
Prior to installation, Site Engineer / Site
supervisor must be thoroughly study and convey to foremen/Tradesman (plumber)
to follow the approved method statement.
·
The Site Engineer/ Site supervisor will give the
necessary instruction to tradesmen (Plumber) and provide approved & stamped
for construction/shop drawing along with coordinated layouts.
·
The Site Engineer/ Site supervisor /Foremen will
also check that proper tools and equipment are available to carry out the work and
are in compliance with contract specification.
·
The site Engineer also explains the Tradesmen
regarding safety precautions to be observed.
15.3. Method of Installation
·
Supervisor/Foremen will carryout site survey and
mark the routing of piping as per the approved shop drawings.
·
Supervisor will also check the required guides for
installation of sump pump set duly assembled the motor with pumps from factory.
Any discrepancies, the same will be brought to notice of PEP.
·
Site supervisor/ Foremen will check the level of the
guide base frame and grout the foundation bolt.
·
Ensure all accessories of the pump as per the
approved drawing.
·
Install the guide pipe and guide pipe holder as per
the approved drawing.
·
Install
the base unit to the bottom of the pump pit.
·
Install the pump controller as per the approved
drawing.
·
Determine the position of the supports and fix the
supports using anchor bolts and ensure all fixing are tight and secure
properly.
·
Any cut edge of angles, channels, or threaded rods
will be touch up with the appropriate zinc rich paint.
·
Place pipes in position if required using lifting
hoists/straps and chain blocks as per the risk assessment requirement.
·
After installation of pumps and piping works, check
for correct leveling, position and alignment.
16.
COMPLETION OF WORKS
·
After completion of works, QA/QC Engineer shall check the installation
as per approved drawings and specification.
·
QA/QC Engineer shall be raising WIR for consultant approval.
17. EMERGENCY
ARRANGEMENT
·
In any emergency case shall be reported to HSE department and immediate
supervisor.
·
Site shall be evacuated if required as per site evacuation plan.
